  • Performance Measurement
    Find ways to measure and track supplier’s performance.
    Include performance measurement as a component of bid evaluation to increase use/recognition of “good performers”.

  • Processes
    Find ways to reduce supplier’s time and cost to submit a bid.

  • Yukon Hire and Content
    Find ways to value/credit local businesses for their contribution to Yukon’s economy. 

  • Contracting Thresholds
    Consider increasing the sole source thresholds to ensure that the cost of the procurement process provides value to both Yukon government and suppliers. 

  • Communication with Business Community
    Provide more frequent opportunities for supplier’s input on general procurement, contracting issues, and specifications for particular contracts. 

  • Consolidation of Procurement Activities
    Find ways to increase centralized coordination and support for procurement activities.
    Provide training to contracting authorities to increase expertise and consistency and to local businesses to access contracting opportunities. 

  • Timing of Contracting Opportunities
    Find ways to spread out work throughout the year.

 

Suggestions from the Panel

  • Find ways to incorporate the use of electronic tools without limiting the ability of smaller businesses to access contracting opportunities. 

  • Conduct inter-jurisdictional research to find solutions that can be adapted to Yukon without re-inventing the wheel.
