New Correctional Supervision Style

 

Enhanced Direct Supervision Style

The new correctional centre will provide the most current methods of inmate supervision. Studies have shown that Enhanced Direct Supervision is effective for the rehabilitation of inmates, which is why it is being integrated into correctional centres across Canada.

Correctional Officers working for the Whitehorse Correctional Centre are now being trained in the Enhanced Direct Supervision Model. 

This new style of supervision is beneficial to both staff and inmates because

• Correctional Officers will be able to work directly with inmates in the living units, and
• inmates and staff will be directly supervised from the control unit.

Twenty-four hour monitoring provides security in the living units so correctional officers can work with offenders effectively.
