Yukon Correctional Infrastructure Project

The new Yukon correctional centre
• will provide a safe, secure environment for inmates and staff,
• will have a multi-use, program and treatment space separate and secure from inmates living space, and
• provides flexible space to accommodate male and female populations separately, and provides suitable segregation and special handling living areas.

Public Involvement
Planning and building a new correctional centre was identified as an action item in the Correctional Redevelopment Strategic Plan , released to the public in 2007.

Development of this Strategic Plan followed an extensive public consultation on corrections.   Consultation and Implementation information can be found at www.correctionsconsultation.yk.ca.
