Criteria for Awards

Candidates for any Yukon Transportation Hall of Fame award must be (or have been) engaged in transportation or a closely related activity in the Yukon. Their duties having an involvement with the movement of goods and/or people.

Transportation Pioneer of the Year Award

A nominee will have made a major contribution affection or advancing the transportation industry, or a closely related activity connected with the movement of goods and/or people in the Yukon.

Transportation Person of the Year Award

A nominee must be (or have been) engaged in transportation, or a closely related activity connected with the movement of goods and/or people in Yukon. Nominees will have assumed a leadership role during their career, which has advanced the transportation industry as a whole or in any one of the several modes. This includes policy, safety, education, enforcement, innovation, and performance.

Order of Polaris Award

Presented to individuals, groups or associations whose contributions to aviation include meritorious service in the Yukon. A nominee will have made a significant contribution and/or advancement to the aviation industry. Air-men and women, engineers, air crews, mechanics, designers and ground support, groups or associations, who have played an important role in opening up the North will also be considered.
